Blackpool Destination Guide

Blackpool Destination Guide 2014 Editorial Photography by Yannick Dixon

Back in September 2013 I received an email from graphic designer Gemma Alderson of Visit Blackpool kindly asking to use one of my photographs from Blackpool Airshow 2010. She wanted to feature it along with some written copy about Blackpool’s annual airshow display across a double page spread in the Blackpool Destination Guide 2014.

Gemma found my photograph of the Breitling Wingwalkers on my Flickr page (if you have a Flickr account feel free to add me) and had some very kind words about my work. I’m always keen to help promote Blackpool in anyway I can (plus I’m a sucker for flattery!), so I agreed to my photograph being used in the Blackpool Destination Guide. I received my copy of the guide a couple of weeks ago and last night I finally got round to photographing it in the studio so that I can share my work with you all.

Coast Magazine

Coast Magazine Picture This Feature Starlings Above

Last month I was contacted by Coast Magazine’s picture editor Suzy Koo about featuring one of my photographs from the Starlings Above series in the October 2010 edition of the magazine.

Each month, Coast Magazine run a photography feature that showcases the work of a different photographer and I was truly delighted to be asked.

I sent over a couple of photographs from the series to Suzy and her editor Clare Gogerty and they decided to feature my photograph of starlings flocking around Central Pier’s Big Wheel in Blackpool. As you can see in the photograph above, the image runs full bleed over a double page spread and includes a short biography on the story behind the image and a link to my photography website.

British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010

British Wildlife Photography Awards

Earlier this week I received an email notifying me that I’ve been shortlisted in the British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010.

This “international photography competition, the BWPA was established to celebrate and recognise the talents of photographers of all nationalities practicing in the UK, while at the same time highlight the great wealth and diversity of British natural history.

At a time when we’re increasingly conscious of the importance of wildlife, habitat and conservation, the Awards encourage photographers, whether professional or enthusiast, to explore Britain’s natural and urban environments, and discover its bounty of wildlife, from birds to mammals, insects to marine life”.

Cure Leukaemia Art Auction

in January 2010 all the artists represented by Visual For Business were invited to donate a piece of artwork for the Cure Leukaemia Art Auction, which is due to take place on the 20th May 2010 at Wragge & Co’s Banking Hall in Birmingham.

Cure Leukaemia is a charity based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham that supports the treatment of and research into Leukaemia and the patient environment.

Now in it’s fifth year of fund-raising, the Art Auction is going from strength to strength in supporting the art programme at the Centre for Clinical Haematology in Birmingham and contributes funds towards research and specialist equipment, benefiting both patients and staff in the most profound way possible.
