Visual For Business Catalogue

Visual for Business Catalogue 2010

This afternoon I visited the Arts & Business office in Manchester to deliver my work for the forthcoming Visual For Business group art exhibition at Salford Business School. The exhibition is being installed tomorrow and will run for six weeks until the end of June.

A selection panel consisting of over twenty members of staff at Salford university looked through over 200 pieces of artwork to consider for this exhibition. I have three framed photographs featured in the exhibition (‘Aloha From Blackpool’, ‘Starlings Above South Pier’ and ‘The Wave’) and I think they represent a nice selection of photographs from my personal and commissioned portfolio.

While I was at Arts & Business I was able to get my hands on a copy of the Visual For Business catalogue for 2009/2010. The catalogue profiles all 157 artists represented in the Visual collection and shows a small sample of their work. All of the artists were carefully selected by experts from Arts Council England, Tate Liverpool, Arnolfini, De La Warr Pavilion and Ikon Gallery.

Join Me On Béhance Network

Starlings Above #2 By Yannick Dixon Photographic Works

Earlier this month I signed up for the Béhance Network, which is one of the internet’s leading platforms for the creative professional community.

The Béhance Network is invitation-only and was designed to help top creatives from around the world showcase their work broadly across industries and to build their professional networks.

I heard about Béhance after talking to my friend Robert Lomas at a New Years Eve party about all manner of creative ideas and projects. Béhance seems like a really good place to not only showcase your own work but to also see the new work of some wonderful artists.

Sony World Photography Awards Book

Sony World Photography Awards Book 2009

I’ve been eagerly awaiting my copy of the Sony World Photography Awards Book for weeks now and I’m pleased to say that it finally arrived today. The winning images in the book were selected by a jury comprising of world-class photographers, curators and agents. The 2009 edition focuses upon the environment through the lenses of Bruce Davidson, Stuart Franklin, Cédric Delsaux and Brent Stirton. The book features all the winners, with comments from the jury members, and features a retrospective dedicated to Marc Riboud, recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award.
