Edinburgh Festival Fringe - Photography By Yannick Dixon

Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in Scotland’s capital city.

Every year thousands of performers take to a multitude of stages all over Edinburgh to present shows for every taste. From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival caters for everyone and includes street theatre, comedy, dance, musicals, operas, music, exhibitions and events.

In Pictures: Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013

As you may know, I love shooting documentary photography and I love a good festival so Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the ideal place for me and my friends to have a good time. This was my first year taking in the Ed Fringe experience and thankfully I was able to share it with friends and fellow Ed Fringe newbies Levi and Ross. I think it’s fair to say that we went with the flow of the fringe; laughing, drinking and attending impromptu performances and shows.

Fortunately I remembered that I was also there to make the most of getting some new street photography shot at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The characters of Ed Fringe really do make for wonderful photographic subjects.

I’ll never forget the street performer who climbed to a third floor window above the Royal Mile, wearing just a pair of red boots and yellow underpants, as the finale of his performance. There are too many memories to mention from our time at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013. All I can really say is if you’ve never been, you have to go and experience it for yourself.
