The Umbrella Project
Moving art installation that creates a fun way for people of all ages to enjoy participatory arts activities
Introduction to The Umbrella Project
Created by Cirque Bijou, The Umbrella Project is a moving art installation that creates a fun and accessible way for people of all ages to enjoy participatory arts activities and, is a perfect match for Blackpool Illuminations.
Featuring a parade of colour-changing umbrellas from Blackpool’s Comedy Carpet to the ‘Brilliance’ arches on Birley Street, Cirque Bijou creates a magical and hypnotising kaleidoscope of moving lights.
With the help of volunteers from Blackpool & The Fylde College, these umbrellas scroll through a rainbow of colours, pulsing or strobing at different speeds and intensity to a choreographed performance piece.
Local arts organisation LeftCoast commissioned me to photograph The Umbrella Project and here you can find a selection of images from the event.
