Are you looking for FREE things to do in Blackpool? Wonderful, because I’ve put together this handy list of 10 absolutely free things you can enjoy in Blackpool without spending a penny. And, as we all know, the best things in life are free!

From buckets and spades on the beach to the World’s greatest light show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Blackpool.

Now, I can’t guarantee glorious sunshine and blue skies, but one thing is for certain, you will not be left wanting for entertainment while visiting the many attractions of UK’s most famous seaside resort. Ready? Here’s your 10 free things thing to do in Blackpool…

Do you remember the utter thrill and excitement of going to the circus? It truly is a wonderful feeling and, thanks to Showzam! 2015, we’ve just had five spectacular days of the finest international circus and street performances to relish and enjoy in Blackpool.

Showzam! Presents Circus Town was a cultural and artistic programme held at several iconic venues in Blackpool (including Blackpool Winter Gardens, The Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Circus and the town centre) that was lovingly brought together by LeftCoast, VisitBlackpool and SeaChange Arts.

Now in its 8th year, Showzam! attracts thousands of visitors to Blackpool and every year it just seems to get bigger and better.

The British Homing World Show of the Year in Blackpool is where pigeon fanciers from across the UK flock to admire and award the crème de la crème of the pigeon world. Now in it’s 43rd year, the BHW Show of the Year 2015 is Europe’s biggest pigeon show and attracts thousands of visitors to Blackpool for the weekend.

There are over 2000 racing pigeons and 1000 fancy pigeons on display, and more than 100 trade stands selling everything ‘pigeon’ related. Thousands of pigeons change hands at sales and auctions where sums of £10 to £10,000 can be paid for a pedigree racing pigeon. It’s fair to say, I think, these pigeon fanciers are here to do business.

Blackpool Illuminations is a world-renowned festival of light founded in 1879 (a year before Thomas Edison patented the electric light bulb) and held each autumn on the Fylde coast in Lancashire.

Stretching over six miles of Blackpool’s famous promenade, from Starr Gate to Bispham, the Illuminations are a remarkable sight to behold. VisitBlackpool once described Blackpool Illuminations as “the greatest free light show on earth” and with over 3.5 million visitors now flocking to the resort to enjoy their colourful glow they might be right. Working as a photographer in Blackpool who lives locally in nearby Lytham St Annes I have the pleasure of photographing this spectacular Lights Festival each and every year.
