St Annes Kite Festival

St Annes Kite Festival 2014 - Photography By Yannick Dixon

The skies above St Annes seafront were filled with bright colours this weekend as spectacular display kites took to the air in celebration of St Annes Kite Festival.

Visitors of all ages packed the beach to enjoy kites of all shapes, sizes and colours during this superb two-day event which was blessed with beautiful sunny weather and, thankfully, enough wind to fly a kite.

Each day I spent a few hours photographing the kite festival and recording ambient sound for those of you who missed St Annes Kite Festival or are thinking of coming next year.

Welcome To The Golden Mile

Welcome To The Golden Mile By Yannick Dixon Photographic Works

Each month I’m offering limited edition prints of photographs recently added to my portfolio. I often receive emails from art buyers regarding print sales and I thought that a print of the month is a good way for collectors to get their hands on my work at discounted prices.

Each print measures 17” x 11” and printed by myself on Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paper using a Canon Pixma 9000 Mark II. There will only be 25 prints produced of each monthly photograph and it will be signed, sealed and delivered to you.

I love street photography, but what do you call photographs taken on the promenade? Promenade photography? It doesn’t quite seem to have the same ring to it does it?! Well this month’s ‘print of the month’ is an example of the kind of candid photography I love shooting.

Médina of Marrakech

Médina of Marrakech

Earlier this month I travelled to Marrakech with my family to celebrate my Mum’s 50th birthday. Despite a small glitch with the flight being cancelled at Manchester airport (due to Spanish air traffic controllers going on strike)

We had the choice to either cancel the trip entirely or get ourselves to Gatwick airport and fly at 7am in the following morning. Thankfully, we choose the latter and spent the following three days having the best time in the Médina of Marrakech.

Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival 2010

Public holidays were surely introduced so that the majority of the population could take a well deserved break from the daily grind of work and go out to thoroughly enjoy themselves.

I thought that I’d spend this year’s August Bank Holiday in London photographing the main parade of Europe’s largest street festival: Notting Hill Carnival.
